About the venue
Koerner Hall is the Royal Conservatory of Music's concert venue on Bloor Street West in Toronto. Designed in the tradition of European rectangular concert halls, it places acoustics at the centre of the audience experience. The hall's dedicated musical setting supports performances across genres, bringing listeners into a space created specifically for the detail and immediacy of live sound. The hall accommodates 1,135 listeners and welcomes classical music, jazz, pop, opera and world music, with film screenings and talks also able to use its presentation facilities.
A flowing wooden canopy is one of the room's most recognisable features, contributing to both the visual atmosphere and the acoustic design. Glass lobbies provide views of the city, while the auditorium is isolated from surrounding vibrations to support concentrated listening. Those details help make a visit feel both spacious and personal: the building frames the occasion, and the performers' sound remains at the heart of it.
