About the venue
Massey Hall is a landmark of Toronto's musical life, built in 1894 as a gift from Hart Massey and recognised as a National Historic Site. Its revitalisation restored the Allan Slaight Auditorium and added a south tower, bringing the historic hall into the wider Allied Music Centre. The Victoria Street venue remains a place where contemporary artists meet a long history of live performance, combining the character of a heritage concert room with a renewed setting for the city's musical future.
The hall's appeal lies in the continuity between its architectural heritage and the artists who perform there today. Attending a show places an audience within a building whose musical significance extends beyond one programme, while its connection to Allied Music Centre links that history to a wider contemporary performance setting. The result is an occasion shaped by both the immediacy of the artist on stage and the memory of generations of concerts at the same address.
