Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge

About the venue

Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge is a recreation and community destination in northwest Calgary. Alongside pools, fitness facilities and a library, the building includes the BMO Theatre, which hosts public performing arts programmes. This combination places live entertainment within a broader community setting, bringing audiences to a neighbourhood facility used for recreation, learning and cultural experiences.

Having a theatre within a recreation and learning facility gives performances a particularly community-focused context. An audience comes to a building whose everyday life includes movement, reading and shared activity, while the BMO Theatre adds a dedicated space for live presentation. That combination makes a cultural visit part of the broader neighbourhood destination, offering northwest Calgary residents and visitors a place where performing arts sit alongside the YMCA's other community uses.
