About the venue
Vancouver Playhouse is a civic theatre in downtown Vancouver, operated as part of Vancouver Civic Theatres. Its intimate setting is used for dance, film and theatrical performances, giving audiences a close connection to the stage. Positioned within the Queen Elizabeth Theatre complex, it forms part of the city's network of public performance spaces.
As part of the civic theatre network, the Playhouse gives downtown Vancouver a performance room with a character distinct from larger halls. Dance, film and theatre can each use the same intimate setting to draw attention to the work on stage or screen. Its place within the Queen Elizabeth Theatre complex also connects a visit with a wider cultural destination, while the Playhouse name identifies the particular auditorium and the scale of experience awaiting its audience.
