About the venue

Winter Garden Theatre is the upper auditorium of Toronto's historic Elgin and Winter Garden theatre complex on Yonge Street. Its atmospheric interior uses garden imagery, trailing vines and decorative leaves to create an unusual setting for live performance. Part of a nationally recognised double-decker theatre building, it offers audiences a theatrical experience shaped as much by its surroundings as by the production on stage.

The garden theme makes the auditorium particularly memorable: the decorative foliage and imaginative interior create a sense of entering a theatrical world before a performance begins. The Winter Garden also forms one half of an unusual architectural pairing, with another complete theatre beneath it in the same building.
